[Women's Cross Country] Oosterhouse wins Vanderbilt InvitationalPublished by
(Holland, Mich.) Senior, Julie Oosterhouse opened her senior cross country season by winning the Vanderbilt Invitational, hosted by Hope College. The Golden Eagles took second to their hosts in the four-team field. Oosterhouse and sophomore, Cathy Coryell raced together taking the lead in the second mile. On the 800 meter climb to the finish, Julie stretched a ten second gap into 37 over Emily Wrozek of Hope. Coryell finished fifth in 19:41. A pack of five CU women ran conservatively through the opening mile then worked their way through the field. Still together at the three mile mark, the sprint to the finish sorted out the places. Freshman Ally Rabe took 17th in 20:42 followed by Audrey Tremaine in (18th / 20:44), CallyAnne Wyma (19th / 20:47), Kayla Ovokaitys (20th / 20:47) and Sydney Tremaine (22nd / 20:56). In a virtual repeat of the 2013 race, Hope took the team title with 22 points followed by Cornerstone with 51, Adiran at 73 and Muskegon Community College's 102.
