[Women's Cross Country] Golden Eagles take 5th at Calvin InvitationalPublished by
(Grand Rapids, Mich.) Led by senior Julie Oosterhouse's fifth place finish, the Cornerstone Golden Eagles placed fifth out of 25 teams at Calvin College Knight Invitational. A cool 48 degree morning followed a night of steady rain and the usually fast course ran slower than usual as the 292 runners churned the corners into mud over the repeating loops in the first two miles. Oosterhouse positioned herself at the back of the lead pack then used a 5:48 final mile to move into fifth, clocking 18:24. Sophomore Cathy Coryell raced well finishing 27th in 19:13. CU's third through sixth finishers were just nine seconds apart with senior, CallyAnne Wyma heading the pack (49th / 19:41) with Audrey Tremaine (53rd / 19:46), Ally Rabe (54th / 19:45 and Joy Reist (61st / 19:50) right behind. Calvin took the team title with 27 points followed by St. Francis of Illinois with 109, Aquinas at 124, Case Western 135 and Cornerstone 170. Read the full article at: www.cugoldeneagles.com
