[Men's Outdoor Track & Field] Falland wins three events, WHAC Performer of the Meet

(Adrian, Mich.) Louis Falland won the 3,000 meter steeplechase, the 1500 meters and set a meet record in the 5,000 meters at the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference Outdoor championship. The CU senior's 30 points earning the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference Performer of the Meet trophy and leading the Golden Eagles to a third place finish.

The two day event began Thursday evening with Jared Courtright winning the 10,000 meters.  The senior surged away in the final mile to finish in a meet record, 31:39.56. Freshman Jacob Benson took seventh in a personal best 34:30.42.

Over at the hammer circle, freshman Gabe Turner took second with a mark of 148-4. Junior Ross Raymond was fourth in 147-1. Raymond returned the next day to take second in the shot put, sending the sixteen pound ball 496.25. 

The evening concluded with the javelin. Freshman Josh Brand's 160-10 effort placed him third and broke the freshman record set by Tristan Ballint in 2000. Jon Brinks improved his best to 143-4 for seventh.

Friday, Falland returned to action cruising to an easy win in the steeplechase, clocking 9:31.84. A short time later his used a well-timed finishing kick to take first in the 1500 meters, running 3:58.79.

Logan Norton and Deon Fox took third and fifth in the pole vault with Norton clearing 147.5 and Fox 14-1.25. Fox recorded a trio of fifth place finishes running 15.35 in the 110 meter hurdles and  57.95 in the 400 meter hurdles.

Senior, Tyler Grey concluded his WHAC career with personal best in the 800 meters. His 1:59.15 placed twelfth.

As the reached its conclusion, Falland and Courtright took on the field in the 5,000 meters. Louis took the lead mid race while Jared worked his way through the pack.  Falland's 14:58.27 broke the meet record and Courtright ran a personal best 15:06.41 in his final WHAC race placing third.

Indiana Tech won the meet, scoring 252 points. Siena Heights was second with 134 and Cornerstone third with 94. Aquinas with 88, Davenport with 61 and Concordia's 20 earned them sixth.
