[Baseball] Baseball swept by AquinasPublished by
The Cornerstone University baseball team got swept today in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) doubleheader by Aquinas College by scores of 7-1 and 6-4. Game one starter Jon Knapp gave up six runs, three earned, in six innings on 11 hits with zero walks and three strikeouts. Knapp took the loss and is now 3-2 on the year. Nick Covello was responsible for the lone run for the offense with a solo home run in the 6th inning for his second homer of the year. Travis Gordon and Tom Enslen each reached base twice. Luke Heller started game two and was credited with the loss after giving up five earned runs in five innings on eight hits, one walk, and three strikeouts. The Golden Eagles, in game two, were led on offense by Travis Gordon and Austin Brunk who each had two hits. Covello added two more RBI in the second game. The pair of losses puts the Cornerstone record at 14-16 overall and 3-10 in the WHAC. Cornerstone will play again next Wednesday in a WHAC doubleheader at Davenport University.
