(Bloomington, Ind.) The Gladstein Invitational hosted by Indiana University provided the perfect setting for a select group of CU relay and field event women to benefit from great competition. Over the two days, the Golden Eagles put up five national qualifying performances.

Friday night, freshman Tess Odegard breezed through the high jump clearing the first two heights on her first attempts. At 5' 5" she needed three tries, but got it, earning her first NAIA national qualifying mark and placing seventh out of nineteen.

Lindsay Lipa's first attempt in the triple jump measured 36' 5", over the NAIA provisional standard and just one half inch off her season best. She placed thirteenth.

In the mile, Julie Oosterhouse held on to the back of the pack for seven laps than put in a 34 second final 200 meters putting herself in the middle four women finishing less than 7/10^th of a second apart. Her time of 5:09.53 was well under the NAIA automatic qualifying time and good for tenth place. Trinity Hulst led the next heat from the gun, running a solo PR of 5:17.55.

Saturday Hulst led off the 4 x 800 meter relay in a crowded field of sixteen teams. Freshman, Cathy Coryell and junior, Kaylee Carew kept the stick moving and stayed out of trouble which gave Oosterhouse a clear path on the anchor leg. Cornerstone finished seventh in 9:36.96, nine seconds under the NAIA automatic qualifying time.

Lipa, Kaitlyn Bronkema, Lyndee Sayers and Larissa Hampton combined for 4:02.06 in the 4 x 400 meter relay, taking third in their heat and sixteenth out of 22 teams. Their time was under the NAIA provisional mark, but short of their automatic qualifying race from December.

"To face several teams from the Big 10, Mid America Conference and many other NCAA Division 1 schools helps prepare us for the quality we'll see at nationals," said CU Director of Track & Field, Rod Wortley. "Indiana's noisy banked track and stands full of fans makes it an even better experience."
